Manual J is a protocol developed by Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) to determine a home's heating and cooling load. It ensures systems are properly sized to avoid over- or under-conditioning, which leads to discomfort and inefficiency.
Many building codes and permitting offices require a Manual J to ensure HVAC systems are properly sized. It helps avoid overspending on oversized equipment and guarantees comfort and energy efficiency.
Manual D provides a layout for duct sizing and routing based on the results of the heating and cooling load calculations. It ensures the correct amount of air reaches each room for balanced comfort and system performance.
Depending on the service requested, each report can include:
Room-by-room heating and cooling loads (Manual J)
Complete duct layout with sizing (Manual D)
Equipment sizing recommendation (Manual S)
Optional: Floor plan layout for contractor/marketing use
Our owner is currently licensed in three states in the US, including North Carolina but we currently do not offer PE-stamped or sealed drawings for permitting purposes, but it is something we are looking to work towards in the future.
Most reports are completed within 3–5 business days, depending on the size and complexity of the home/project.
You can just give us a call or send us an email to discuss your needs on your project for free, and one of our representatives will visit your home/site to discuss further and provide a scope outline.
